Downtown Revitalization

Meet the Developer, Public Meeting

The public met with the downtown developer, Oppenheimer Development Corporation on Thursday, November 29, 2007 in Jewitt Auditorium at The College of Idaho.  Oppenheimer was selected by the City to head the City Center Catalyst Project.  The scope of the meeting provided the public an overview of the plans and schedule for the project.  A question/answer session followed the scheduled presentation.

Two new office buildings in downtown Caldwell

As energy and excitement starts to build in downtown Caldwell, with the opening of Indian Creek drawing nearer, and the anticipation of a significant downtown catalyst project (new city hall) moving forward, the community welcomes two new office buildings, which have recently been completed in downtown Caldwell.  Congratulations to the owners of the “Title One” building and to the Gunstream building.

Title One BuildingThe Title One building is a 7,500 square foot, “class A” office complex, located at 904 Dearborn Street at the intersection of 9th and Dearborn.  It is currently 70% occupied, with approximately 2,000 square feet available for lease (second floor). For leasing information, contact either Mike Groff or Mark Flitton at 208-459-3696.

The Gunstream building is a 6,000 square foot office complex located across the street from Title One Gunstream Buildingbuilding, at 524 9th Ave. in downtown Caldwell.  The building will soon be the Caldwell office of Gunstream Commercial Real Estate and will have an additional space available for office lease needs.  For leasing information, contact Coldwell Banker Commercial Gunstream & Associates at 208-442-0066.

Downtown Development Everywhere

Several Downtown construction projects are ongoing.  The Indian Creek Project is nearing completion.  The daylighting and rerouting 1,300 feet of Indian Creek between Kimball and Fifth has been completed and the new lighting and landscaping are nearing completion.  The Official Celebration of the completion of this project will take place on April 26th, 2008, combining Downtown Cleanup Day, Ribbon Cutting and the first Annual Fishing Derby (rules & registration) on Indian Creek.

The Caldwell Train Depot is completing Phase 2 of its rehabilitation.  Work includes improvements to the east parking lot, dormers and additional restoration to the interior of the building.  The scheduled completion date is July 2008.

The Downtown Catalyst Project is the result of three years of City Center planning, discussions with potential developers, and feedback from the public, regarding several sites that are being considered for a new City Hall.  The RFQ went out in the summer of 2007 with four groups submitting proposals.  Public meetings have been scheduled and the Downtown Steering Committee will make its recommedation to City Council in mid-September.
